A reader asks if anyone knows where, in the greater Vancouver area, one can find the following:
1) unbaked frozen croissants (cholov stam is fine) - large or small quantity
Le Bon Croissant makes unbaked frozen products, which are COR certified. We are currently waiting for a response to our inquiry about where to purchase their products.
2) solid pack canned pumpkin (for baking) - not to be confused with pumpkin pie filling.
Anyone? COR has a few canned pumpkins listed on their site, but tracking them down? *shudder* We suggest calling IGA, Safeway, Superstore, Choices, Capers, Whole Foods, etc. In the meantime, if any of our 3 readers know where solid pack canned pumpkin is available, please drop a comment or an email. Thanks!

We actually solved the croissant mystery - Cosmo Bakery sells by the dozen at 50 cents each. Not bad at all.
Still hoping for the pumpkin, though.
Oh, duh. Thanks for the reminder about Cosmo! For our other readers, Cosmo also sells frozen challah dough, burekas, knishes and pizza, all hechshered. If we're remembering correctly, it's all OU.
Le Bon never got back to us. Nice customer service.
We baked the croissants on Friday to eat for breakfast on Sat - they were awesome!! When I was at Cosmo, I noticed that the sign on their wall from BCK was labeled "pareve"... I didn't see any pizza displayed, but I didn't ask, either. They didn't ahve the croissants out - I asked about them and mentioned having seen them on the website. They were very accomodating, but I got the impression that it might be better to call to place an order next time. Their freezer was full of frozen, ready-to-bake challahs, knishes, rugelach, etc. Yummy.
I'm not surprised about Le Bon. I had emailed the Canadian division of Gordon Foods Services about croissants and never heard from them, either. I've emailed multiple companies about kosher loaves of bread (the squishy wonder bread kind that we can't get here in Victoria) and only heard back from one... Guess they aren't interested in the kosher market.
